Visiting

Practical information for visiting the bridge.

Getting there

Tower Bridge is in central London, beside the Tower of London. The nearest stations include Tower Hill (Underground) and Tower Gateway (Docklands Light Railway). London Bridge station is a walk of roughly a kilometre to the west. Check a current journey planner for routes and service changes.

Crossing the bridge

Anyone can cross Tower Bridge on foot, by road or by bicycle without a ticket. The pavements on both sides of the roadway are open to pedestrians, with views of the Thames, the Tower of London and the City skyline.

The Tower Bridge Exhibition

A ticketed attraction, the Tower Bridge Exhibition, covers the high-level walkways, the towers and the Victorian engine rooms on the south side of the river. It explains the history of the bridge and how it works.

Watching the bridge open

The bascules still open for river traffic, and the bridge operators publish a lift schedule in advance. Check the official Tower Bridge website for upcoming dates and times, because they depend on ship movements.

Before you go

Opening times, ticket prices and access arrangements change, so confirm them on the official Tower Bridge website before you travel.
